Annie Duke might not have captured her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP win came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker run wild after a big success at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four kids. She was born in NH and was raised into a family of card players. If you do not believe that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught Annie how-to play poker.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has earned her cut of difficult games, including eliminating Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Earning well over $3 million in tournament play, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to build up his abilities and become a big player in poker.
You might see Annie at the Bellagio, you will catch her on TV and you might even compete against her in a web-based poker match, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you’re a up and coming master, you’ll not beat her. although, it would be fun to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
