Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

June 17th, 2022 at 17:25

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
