Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
