No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
