I’ve been playing poker now for about five years, I have bet cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to usually win, whatever casino game we were wagering and even though I liked to call it skill, it was quite hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were playing, so I was happy to accept I was having an extended run of luck.
Then came Poker, or more importantly Hold em Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card gamblers in the sixties and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it’s ultra cool with numerous of the world’s leading celebs racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan via the TV channels nowadays and you can not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each and every single gambler.
So with all of this fresh discovered recognition, with so numerous Tv programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are persons going to understand that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I should not have so worked up about this, after all the additional people who have difficulty with the subtle techniques and methods necessary for succeeding consistently at Texas holdem, the better it can be for everyone else, appropriate?
