Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
