No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 in which he liked taking part in different card games at a young age. He found himself getting really aggressive in these card games as he was playing his father. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a little bit and headed to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were difficult as he would play countless hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some additional money by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could boost his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more sleep and focus attention more on the game.

The real advancement in his skills began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would regularly wager against each other. He was able to access a few of the best players in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his strategic thinking techniques. Howard used these strategic concepts in the game of NL hold’em.

Howard Lederer also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. She was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Sin City and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest female players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the following decade. When the WPT gained popularity, he made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
