Double-hand Poker is a modern game with old origins. Built on the old Chinese domino game and the current American variation of poker, Pai Gow poker joins the east with the west in a great game for beginning level gamblers.
Pai Gow is a poker game that puts the gambler vs. the croupier, unlike almost all other poker games that players compete with other gamblers. By betting against the dealer, beginner players don’t have to worry about any other, more experienced people taking their money.
One more Pai Gow edge is the relatively leisurely game play, novices are able to take their time and strategize while not needing to make quick decisions.
It is also much simpler to play for an extended time with just a tiny bit of cash after all, to lose, each of your hands needs to be under each of the dealer’s hands.
Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card common deck and one joker. The player is dealt 7 cards faces showing and the croupier gets seven cards face down.
A five card hand and a 2 card hand must be put together from the 7 cards, the 5 card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To succeed, a player is required to have both of his hand totals to be better than the dealer’s.
